Since Las Vegas rose from the arid Mojave Desert in the 1950’s it has been popular among holidaymakers. The city was famously funded by mob money and run by such dubious characters as Bugsy Siegel before eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes and some big hotel chains followed the unlikely gold rush and cleaned up the city’s image. Since then the city has gone from strength to strength and some iconic Las Vegas hotels and resorts have risen out of the desert to help the city maintain its place as the world’s premier entertainment destination.

The first mega resort to go up in Las Vegas was Caesar’s Palace in 1966. The now world famous hotel has a Greco Roman theme and was modelled on some of antiquity’s most famous architecture and features an opulent pool complex called the Garden of the Gods as well as the giant fountains out front. Holidaymakers that like ancient themes can also choose to stay in the Luxor hotel which is named after the ancient Egyptian city where many of the country’s most famous artefacts and mummies were found in the Valley of the king’s and surrounding areas.

Holidaydaymakers looking for something a little more modern in theme can stay at the venetian and travel around the resort’s waterways on Gondola’s, or they can visit hotel Paris. The French themed hotel stands under a 50 storey replica of the Eiffel tower that has its own observation deck. The complex also has a replica’s of the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and a 30 Story replica of the Hotel de Ville. There is even a replica of the river Seine winding around the facade of the hotel making for a magical and truly spectacular site. The saying ‘only in America’ will stick in holidaymakers heads as they are constantly confounded by what has been achieved in Las Vegas.

As fun and memorable as a trip to Las Vegas may be it is not an option with holidaymakers who have children, or who don’t want to spend at least some of their time in Casino’s. Orlando hotels put holidaymakers within reach of another fun, themed destination that was made for children and is definitely adult friendly. The Magic Kingdom is Florida’s version of Disneyland and resembles its counterparts in California, Tokyo and Paris in all but name. Holidaymakers visiting will find all of the familiar magical lands and attractions only differ slightly from what is available elsewhere.

Main Street USA is still there, as is Fantasyland and Adventureland but Sleeping Beauty’s Castle is called Cinderella’s Castle. Apart from that holidaymakers can enjoy similar rides to what they can in the other Disneyland resorts such as it’s a Small World in Fantasyland, a ride aimed at smaller children who will enjoy the sing along fun as they travel through different parts of the world peopled by miniature characters in costume. Disneyland’s magic Kingdom remains as popular as ever and is the perfect reason for couples, groups or families to visit Florida hotels.
