London’s eclectic and creative culture makes it one of the most popular destinations in Europe, and one of its many charms is the range of unique restaurants and dining experience the city offers. Over the years more and more thought-provoking and entertaining restaurant ideas have come into fruition in the capital, providing visitors with a wonderfully unique experience they are unlikely to match elsewhere. With so many restaurants rubbing shoulders with central London hotels and attractions, you will be able to find an original restaurant to fit within your itinerary.

Below Zero and the Ice Bar

For the coolest bar in town, look no further than the Below Zero restaurant with its famous Ice Bar in Mayfair. Here you can dine from a choose of restaurants - either enjoying classing English food at the Moose Dining room or trying seafood at the Below Zero restaurant. Afterwards, head for cocktails at the Ice Bar, which is made entirely of ice and stays at a chilly -5 degrees all year round. Before you can go inside and enjoy some vodka cocktails (over ice, of course) you’ll need to put on a special coat, gloves and hat to ensure you can endure the temperature, and sip bright cocktails while taking in the amazing ice sculptures.

Rootmaster

For lunch East London, head to Brick Lane - not for the famous curry houses per se, but for fantastic vegan fare at the Rootmaster cafe. Located inside a London double-decker bus, visitors can sit and enjoy delicious meals, from a menu which is updated regularly in order to ensure the ingredients are in season. Specialties include a mezze platter with hummus and sundried tomatoes, and wonton wraps filled with coriander and carrots. The relaxed atmosphere of Rootmaster encourages you to linger at the outdoor tables and top level of the bus to enjoy one of the more alternative areas of London.

Abracadabra

For something completely different, dine at Abracadabra in the West End, an eccentric restaurant with a fantastical theme, the focal point being a large revolving table which gives every diner seated there a constantly-changing view. The menu is a mix of international cuisined, including Russian caviar, borsch and herring. The décor is fun and kitschy, and even the staff are decked out in themed uniforms. Before heading back to one of the comfortable and convenient London hotels, dance the night away at Abracadabra’s exclusive HeyJoClub.

Dans Le Noir

For adventurous diners, a meal at Dans Le Noir is the ultimate one-of-a-kind experience. The entire restaurant is pitch black, and you eat in darkness. You will be guided to and from your table by the staff who are blind, so they have the advantage of finding their way by memory. The French menus are colour-coded, so you simply choose whether you want seafood (blue), vegetarian (green), meat (red) or the "chef’s choice" (white) for those who want to work it out as they taste it. The idea is that having one sense - sight - removed, the senses of smell and taste will be heightened, and that you will really focus on the flavours of your meal. Once you leave the darkened restaurant, the waiters will show you pictures of exactly what you ate.
