Florida, American’s Sunshine State may not be the obvious choice for a romantic holiday, but in fact, it’s ideal. In addition to its warm, tropical climate, it has the longest coastline in the US, meaning there are plenty of beaches to relax on with your loved one. Look for Florida hotels right on the beach at one of these fantastic cities.



The most well-known city in Florida has to be Miami, which has over a dozen beaches within the city limits. Two of the more private and romantic beaches can be found at Key Biscayne or Matheson Hammock Park, but there are plenty of busier beaches if you’re keen on being where all the action is. If you want to get away from the beach, head to Venetian Pool, which is a historic swimming pool in the Coral Gables area of town. The best way to spend an evening is to take a romantic sunset cruise of the bays and beaches of Miami.



Orlando is a really popular destination for families, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a truly romantic break here too. There is plenty to keep couples happy. Hire one of the swan boats in Lake Eola park and spend some time on the water, or take a wine-tasting tour at Epcot’s world showcase, which has a firework display at the end of the day. Of course, one of the most special and romantic things you can do is take a sunrise balloon ride over Orlando, after which you land in time for a champagne breakfast. Couples can enjoy the theme parks too though, by dancing the night away at Disney’s Pleasure Island or Universal Studios’ City Walk, which has many popular clubs. Or experience a true fairy-tale romance with a gourmet dinner inside of Cinderella’s castle in the Magic Kingdom. Then again, you might just want to order room service at one of the luxurious Orlando hotels, and enjoy a quiet evening in with a bottle of wine.



Meanwhile, there’s always Fort Lauderdale. This city’s beautiful canal system has earned it the nickname "The Venice of America". In addition it has gorgeous beaches and, couples can spend time enjoying pampering spa services at one of the quality Florida hotels. Enjoy a wide variety of water sports, such as skiing, jet skiing or parasailing, or for a more secluded beach experience, take a boat to Deerfield Island nature reserve. Walk hand in hand amongst the tropical gardens of the Bonnet House Museum and Gardens, then spend the night enjoying tropical drinks, dancing, and and amazing food at the Mai Kai Polynesian Restaurant in the centre of town.
